Malik Yoba

Malik Yoba actor/author/motivational speaker, entrepreneur has appeared in over 20 films including the Disney classic "Cool Runnings" and numerous television roles including New York Undercover and most recently the FX Networks "Thief' (Spring 2006.) He is also the author of "Lessons From The Streets and her Places." The former vice president of the City Kids Foundation, Malik has been working as an arts educator for over twenty years. In a thoughtful, poignant and humorous way, “Please Return My Phone Call: Preventing The Demise Of Personal And Professional Relationships” explores some of the causes and effects of this “horrible habit” and offers simple solutions for fixing the problem.

Akoshia Yoba's poem, entitled "Dream Time" was published by the International Library of Poetry in 2002. She is also the author of two novels, "Diary of New Age Divorcee," "So She Says," and the co-author of a memoir, "Call and Response: Letters Between A Mother and Daughter." She graduated Cum Laude from the City College of New York and holds a B.A. degree in English Literature.

One goal we have for Please Return My Phone Call is for it to provoke the reader to engage in introspective analysis regarding their habits of personal communication. We want to encourage them to connect the dots between personal integrity and accountability to their professional communication style - to ask themselves: "Who am I?" "Am I impeccable with my word?" "Can I be relied on to follow through?" "What is my integrity level and can it be improved?" "How will my life improve if my habits change?"

We believe that personal habits bleed into the fabric of professional behavior. When an individual has poor personal habits in the area of communication, the transfer of these proclivities into the workplace negatively affects the well being of the enterprise and too often the company's bottom line.

Another goal is to promote dialogue around this issue that can lead to useful solutions for meaningful change. To facilitate this process we offer personalized workshops for corporations, educational institutions and other organizations to co-create blueprints for change within the individuals and thus the enterprise.
