Book Description:
IDA Mae stumbled into the kitchen, careful not to wake Papa or Milan as she climbed the back stairs. If I'm lucky, I can pour a bath and bandage my wounds and be in bed before eleven, she thought. In the oval mirror above the washstand she surveyed the damage. Blood was still oozing from the cut on her lip, and her left cheek had started to swell. The pain she felt between her legs and in her rectum sent her reeling. Down, down she fell, into a sea of darkness.

IDA Mae, winner of the UBUS Black Book Of The Year 2000 Award. A story about rape, racism, and trans-racial adoption. This tale of Historical Fiction spans 71 years from 1948 - 2019.

Reviews:Delores Thornton, the award-winning author of IDA Mae has done it again! Thornton's second novel, Babe, will be a definite hit, and a definite must-read. Continuing her 'delicious' ability to create refreshing characters, in Babe, Thornton keeps her dialogue lively and the action intriguing. There's something in this book to impress nearly every reader."-- Gloria Taylor Edwards, Author and Radio Talk Show Host WCLM 1450 AM Richmond, VA
