Saved Blessed and Delivered
Saved Blessed and Delivered

Author:ERNEST L. PORTOR

Although this books speaks of me it is really not about me, but rather it is about my Heavenly father. If it were not for Him keeping me and saving me, I wouldn t be here at all. So again I thank my God! In my life there have been many exciting moments. First and foremost I accepted Christ in my life and was baptized. The day I marched down the aisle to be married was also memorable. But when the Lord blessed our marriage with our first child, I was like a young rooster just learning to crow. I was so proud to become a father, I started passing out cigars before I knew that my first born was a girl. Another source of pride was the birth of our first granddaughter. Hurricane Betsy struck Louisiana in 1965, shortly after I was married, and my two brothers, Fred and Sam had to stay with my wife and me, for they were displaced by Betsy. We were cramped in a tiny apartment but we made do. I thank God for my first home at 6528 Lincolnville Boulevard in Marrero, Louisiana. I lost that home to Hurricane Juan in 1985, and we had to go and stay with my brother Fred. I just can''t thank my God enough for His favor on my life. He has allowed me to be appointed Chairman for the musical for the National Baptist Convention, U.S.A., Inc., for the Congress of Christian Education. The event, to be held in June 2011, will bring about fifty thousand people to the new convention center across from Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts. In the opening chapter of this book, I speak of the way things used to be and the way they are. I do need to talk about President Barack Obama and the powerful affect he s had on Americans in general and African Americans in particular. I was so proud when President Obama won the election, I wrote him a letter congratulating him on his election and his great wisdom and courage displayed during his campaign. In conclusion, it s safe to say that the Black church which was born on the plantations in the South has come a long way. It is still at the heart of the Black community, and although people have strayed away the church remains a constant source of life, love and hope! So Pick Up Your Copy Today!!

The Choir Director
The Choir Directory

Author:Carl Weber

New York Times bestselling author Carl Weber takes readers back to church, where preaching isn't always enough, nothing goes better with the Word than a song--and it's time for some hard-earned lessons in love, brotherhood, and betrayal. Bishop T.K. Wilson has done all he can to make First Jamaica Ministries a success. But with his last choir director getting caught in a scandal, attendance and cash flow are down. To fill the pews and collection plates, the Bishop is counting on a new choir director, the charismatic Anthony Mackie, to revive the church. Anthony Mackie has been waiting his entire life for the opportunity to prove he has what it takes to be a big-time choir director like Kirk Franklin. But while Anthony is more than up to the challenge, his ways around women, both past and present, could cost him more than his job. Savannah Dickens is just one of the women who's caught Anthony's attention. The choir needs a soloist, and Savannah, a beautiful singer who once topped the charts, also needs the church. She has a voice that could break any man's heart, but now she just wants to be left alone to reclaim her faith. First Lady Monique Wilson is far from being the typical first lady. She does and says what she wants, and doesn't subscribe to church politics. Despite her shortcomings and a past rumored to include a long list of men, she's willing to do just about anything to protect the Bishop. The members of First Jamaica Ministries are also keeping the Bishop busy with choir in-fighting, romantic jealousies, and personal vendettas. You'd think the Bishop was being tested enough, but a final piece of the puzzle has yet to be revealed: Someone has been robbing the church blind. Someone whose connection to the Bishop is far too close for comfort. . . .
